An inspiring walk in Coleford with a follow up art workshop in the afternoon
To celebrate the Earth Day Canopy will be leading a Creative Walk in Nature and an Arts Workshop. This event will be in partnership with Coleford Library.
The aim is to enjoy a slow walk in Nature stopping to observe and reflect along the way. Everyone will be given a notebook to use and a wide variety of drawing materials. Opportunities to respond through writing, photography, sketching, mark-making or simply ‘being in the moment’. With a full notebook of ideas participants will return to the Library to eat lunch and with the support of Canopy artists develop their work with a variety of art materials.

Arrive 10.45am for 11.00pm start from Coleford Library
2 hour walk with lots of stops to respond to Nature
Followed by an indoor Art Workshop to develop your ideas under the guidance of practicing artists.

Please bring a packed lunch to enjoy. Tea and Coffee will be provided.

Need to know
Participants need to sign up for the whole day – 11.00am – 4.00pm
Please wear suitable walking boot/shoes, waterproof/warm jacket, weather appropriate.
Try to be as ‘hands free’ as possible.
Notebooks will be provided and art materials but if participants wish to bring any of their own then these can be left in cars in the carpark until the afternoon.
Tickets are by donation. We are a not-for-profit organisation. All proceeds go towards funding for our activities and events, cultivating creative communities throughout the Forest of Dean.
Your Canopy Leader
A walk designed and guided by Sara Rickard. Sara has lived in the FoD for over 20 years, is a textile artist and educator and a member of the Canopy steering committee. A member of farOpen and the Embroiderers’ Guild Sara’s own work focusses on stitch, both by hand and machine and is greatly inspired by the beauty of the forest. http://www.sarajoyrickard.com
