Canopy are sponsoring a series of Artist Talks at various art galleries and venues around the Forest of Dean.
Our mission is to support all creatives in the Forest of Dean and our Artist Talks are a fabulous way for the community to join exhibiting artists to learn more about their art practice, inspiration and work on display with live Q&A session to finish.
Some venues may have a limit on how many people can be accommodated so please try and reserve your spot in advance via the listed booking link.

Meet Painters Bev Campbell and Perienne Christian and Jeweller Uschi Arens Price who will share their inspiration and process during a Canopy Sponsored Artist Talk Limited to 25 and are on a first come basis. Refreshments will be provided.
These artists are currently exhibiting in the Drawn to Landscape show at The Sanctuary Gallery in Newnham on Severn alongside Briony Jenkins, Janet James, Ed Wooley, Yvette Glaze and Sue Mundy. Gallery open Tues – Fri 11.00 – 5.00pm, Sat 12 – 4pm. Running 10th February – 15th March.

Warren Day , Painter, Karen Tacey, Ceramicist and Rhian Wyman Textile Weaver are very
much rooted in The Forest of Dean. These extraordinary local artists will each be giving a
short talk on both their inspiration and process.
There will be an opportunity to enjoy a glass of wine and cheese whist browsing the work in the gallery before heading upstairs to The Studio where you will be seated for the talk which in total will last approximately 1 hour.

Andrea McLean will be treating us to a presentation on the research and methodology in creating her extraordinary paintings. Afternoon Tea will be served. To confirm your FREE place please book here , only 25 spaces.
Recognised nationally & highly respected, Andrea McLean is from The Forest of Dean and The Sanctuary Gallery in Newnham feel privileged to be holding “Mythos” .
Andrea McLean will be debuting a new body of work with mythological mapping paintings and hand coloured etchings. Works explore the modern retelling of mythical stories with titles such as Pathways with Berries, Shield of Achilles and The Reflective Earth.
Andrea is being joined by local glass artist Leigh Sladen whose ethereal glass designs compliment Andrea’s extraordinary paintings.

This latest exhibition opens on Tuesday 7th and runs until 25th February is all about Printmaking. This incredibly diverse medium covers many different processes and The Sanctuary Gallery will be representing 5 highly experienced local artists who specialise in everything from collagraph, stone lithography to lino printing. The Private view for “PRINT” will be on Friday 10th February between 6-8pm – open to all – so feel free togo along for a glass of fizz to celebrate this wealth of talent and the first exhibition of 2023. Exhibiting artists are Melanie Clarke, Sarah Delahoy, Nichola Goff, Patricia Homewood & Niki Kent.

Artist Talks – 7Q Art Gallery
Dorota Rapacz
12 noon, Sunday 30th January, 7Q Gallery, Chepstow
Dorota Rapacz talked about her work and inspiration. Dorota studied sculpture in Warsaw, human figure and life are the endless inspirations for her work in 3D and relief.
It was fascinating to hear about her training in art in Warsaw and how she has evolved her work into the development of relief pieces. Dorota explained how important drawing is to her ideas and showed how the depth of the relief pieces changes considerably depending on the light. A huge triptych of racing greyhound dogs with a female figure (having discarded her shoes) amongst them was a powerful experience filling one of the main walls. The exhibition was uplifting and listening to Dorota’s narrative added to the whole experience.
