2025 has been a wonderful year of growth, connection and creativity for Canopy. We’ve delivered an absolutely packed programme of events across the Forest of Dean, from community workshops and artist talks to creative walks, artist talks, lantern parades and vibrant arts festivals.
It’s been a real joy to connect with so many talented creatives and to inspire people of all ages to have a go at getting creative — or simply to enjoy watching brilliant performances unfold. This year saw our biggest festival yet, with Newent artsFEST in October filling the town with colour, music and a joyful parade that brought out so many smiling faces.
Earlier in May, Cinderford artsFEST firmly rooted us within the town, working alongside local community organisations in a true collective celebration of creativity. We’ve continued to strengthen our presence in more of the Forest’s market towns, building lasting relationships along the way. As a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation, Canopy exists to bring creatives together and to support artists, musicians and performers of all ages and abilities.
With the generous support of Arts Council England and Forest of Dean District & Town Councils, we’re proud to showcase the incredible creative talent found throughout our district. Looking ahead to 2026, we remain ambitious and full of excitement.
We’ll be kicking off the year with West Dean artsFEST in March and planning another in October (location to be revealed!) , with many more festivals, workshops, creative walks and lantern parades already in the works. We’re keen to reach new areas of the Forest, as well as return to familiar places with renewed energy. Whether you’re an artist, performer, volunteer or enthusiastic audience member, we’d love you to be part of what comes next. Join us as we continue celebrating creativity in the Forest of Dean.
