Our purpose here at Canopy is to foster connections between creatives in the Forest of Dean. One of the ways we do this, is through Artist Talks where local art galleries invite exhibiting artists to present their work on display and offer insight into the way they work, followed by a Q&A session to finish. Sponsored by us, the event is free for you to attend so why not reserve your seat at this beautiful gallery for a Saturday afternoon of culture and canapés?

Exhibiting Artist & Gallery Owner Sharon Harvey

“I am interested in pushing boundaries and am always trying to grow my understanding of what and how we see contemporary painting”

Sharon’s paintings are inspired by the natural world, be that botanical forms, an endless sky, or the rugged coastlines of the UK. Noticing shapes, patterns, and textures, she attempts to capture, through the sensory medium of paint, the mood of the place or a moment in time. Painting intuitively, allowing the painting to develop slowly but attempting to capture the energy or light Sharon builds up layers in paint and drawn marks until a rich texture evolves and the composition is ready to be refined.

Graduating from Winchester School of Art with a First-Class Honours Degree in Fine Art, Sharon as shortlisted for the National Graduate award and gained representation with London based art consultants Artiq. Exhibiting widely, Sharon has a loyal collector base and has works held in both the UK and International private and corporate collections. Jessica has exhibited in group and solo shows in Portugal, Italy and the UK. Her work is held in private collections worldwide and has been featured in various publications internationally

Exhibiting Artist Sarah Boden

Sarah Boden’s beautiful landscapes inspire feelings of optimism and joy

“As a professional artist, I create dynamic abstract landscapes and seascapes in mixed media which explore narratives gained while living and working overseas in Asia, Australia and Europe.”

Sarah initially worked as an architect overseas before establishing her fine art practice. She has exhibited in Switzerland, Malaysia, Thailand, and Spain, and regularly undertakes commissions whilst exhibiting throughout the UK. Sarah completed her MA in Art History (distinction) in 2018 and spent a year as an artist in residence in Basel, Switzerland.

Her paintings have been featured in magazines and collections worldwide. In addition to her professional practice, Sarah shares her creative ideas through art workshops, both privately and through charities such as Brace Dementia Research in Bristol.
