Creative Walks explained

Our fabulous Project Manager Sara Rickard will be leading this month’s Creative Walk and she’s keen to explain what it’s all about and encourage you to sign up to take part! With only 12 places available, you’ll need to be quick to book your place.

Sara is an embroidery artist who creates the most captivating whimsical textile art with enchanting, hand embroidered animals & nature with a humorous twist. Her work can be found here on her website and was recently exhibited at Nature in Art in Twigworth where she was the Artist in Residence and at farOpen Studios Art Trail. She’s a truly lovely person to spend time with and her previous experience in art education lends itself to encouraging your participation with helpful hints and tips for getting creative.

Canopy offers ‘Creative Walks’ every month which are an artist led walk for people interested in being active and creative, encouraging participation through written or spoken word, photography, visual notes, map making, story telling and drawing. The activity is not about the distance covered but the experience of the journey.  These usually start and finish at a coffee shop so if you cannot make the walk, you can always just meet with others to have a coffee and a chat.

This experience is designed for creatives and the general public, suitable for beginner walkers. You’ll’ need to wear comfortable shoes and clothing appropriate to the weather on the day and we suggest you bring a camera but otherwise everything else is provided.
